Vehicle Rental Documents in India: A Useful Checklist

Planning your journey

Document checks protect both independent vehicle owners and renters. Requirements are not identical for every vehicle, state or service. The goal is to verify appropriate eligibility without sharing more personal information than necessary.

Checks for a person renting

Confirm your driving licence authorises the relevant vehicle class. Compare the registration details with the actual vehicle, and ask about insurance and permits appropriate to the rental activity. The presence of an RC alone does not establish that a commercial arrangement is permitted.

Checks for the owner and privacy

Hosts should verify renter eligibility and identity using suitable, lawful processes. Avoid sharing document images in public chats or website comments. The website does not yet accept sensitive RC or identity-document uploads; use a secure approved channel when available.

Compare full terms, not just a price

Ask for the exact vehicle, dates, available pickup location, deposit, distance allowance, fuel or charging policy, late charges and cancellation terms. An itemised quotation is more useful than a headline day rate.

Review documents and permitted use

Driving licence eligibility, registration classification, permits and insurance depend on the location and service. A private-registration vehicle is not automatically authorised for commercial rental. Both parties should verify the applicable requirements before agreeing to a transaction.

Send an enquiry to a host

Tell GetMyGaadi the city, approximate travel dates, preferred vehicle category and service type. A host may respond with availability and their own proposed terms. The platform does not handle rental payments; an enquiry does not confirm a booking.
